Apple has just updated its online store with a shipping date for the 3G-equipped variants of its iPad. As you can see, all varieties of the hallowed Apple tablet should be out and about by May 7th — meaning that some deliveries could sneak out even earlier — and you can expect AT&T will be ready and waiting for you to activate that $30 a month unlimited data plan. Just for the European record, that means the iPad will be out in full force for American consumers three days ahead of the announcement of specific international availability. Ah well, at least that gives the UK and others hope that they might see the 3G and WiFi-only slates coming out at the same time, which should be somewhere around the end of May.

According to Apple Insider, some Apple retail stores on Thursday started offering unrestricted quantities of the iPhone 3G to be sold without a contract for the unsubsidized price of $599 per 8GB handset and $699 per 16GB. According to ChinaTechNews.com, Apple and China Mobile have agreed on a deal to bring the iPhone 3G to China as soon as May 2009. The news comes from an Ovum representative in the UK. No further details about the arrangement have been made available. Previous rumors had China Unicom and China Mobile launching the device on both networks simultaneously, but nothing more about China Unicom has been said since then.

More evidence of a Walmart iPhone launch has been uncovered. Engadget has gotten their hands on a leaked internal memo stating plans to launch the iPhone in Walmart stores on December 28 at 9 a.m. Ironically, it also states that Walmart has signed an NDA with Apple, which would explain why they haven’t said anything about it to the public.
