Stay away from OS 3.1 to stay unlocked, contains new baseband

musclenerd1

It has been confirmed that the just seeded iPhone OS 3.1 has a new version of baseband, version 5.08.01. This means iPhone 3G users will no longer be able to use ultrasn0w on the device unless/ until DevTeam fixes it to work with the upcoming firmware or finds a new exploit. This also means if you upgrade, you might loose the opportunity to unlock your phone forever! Therefore, we advice you to wait for new tools that’ll allow you to preserve baseband for updating to the latest firmware so that the unlock stays.pwnagetool

“ultrasn0w users must stay away from any firmware updates past 3.0 (including today’s 3.1 beta) until we release the tools that let you update the firmware without updating the baseband.

This does not apply to the iPhone 2G users as BootNeuter will continue to unlock future firmware versions!”
