We knew when we first saw the iPhone that it would be handy for a number of different uses, but who would have thought that shooting at things would be one of them? Two apps have found their way into the App Store for calculating the trajectory of a bullet’s flight path to ensure that you hit your target.

The first, called Bulletflight, is made specifically for three sniper rifles (including the U.S. military’s M110) made by the Knight’s Armament Company (KAC), the company that commissioned and sells the app in the App Store, and can be programmed to work with any other rifle made with he company.

Of course, for those of you who haven’t been watching the App Store lately, iSnipe [App Store] does mostly the same thing but isn’t tied to a specific gun maker and only costs $4.99. In the time that iSnipe has been in the store, it’s become extremely popular. Conclude from that what you will about the iPhone community.

Update: To those of you (looking at you, Bernie) wondering about that clip holding the iPod Touch in those two pictures above, The Firearm Blog writes that it was custom-built by KAC for this very purpose, and the gun shown is their M110. Unfortunately they don’t offer any details on where to get one.
