Several sites on the web are reporting that the App Store has finally reached 10,000 apps available for purchase from developers. This is only partly true. Over 10,000 apps have been accepted into the store and released since the App Store’s opening, but as App Shopper points out, not all of them are still in the store.
Due to things like copyright infringement claims or simply being discontinued, around 354 apps have been subsequently removed, putting the number of apps currently available at only around 9,676. That said, the App Store may very well break the 10,000 app mark soon, but it hasn’t yet.
